SPEECH
THERAPY

Speech and language pathology is a healthcare profession that assesses and treats speech, language and communication problems in people of all ages to enable them to communicate to the best of their ability.

The Rising Sun provides diagnostic evaluations, assessments, parental guidance and therapeutic intervention for children of all ages in the following areas:

  • Early language development including pre-verbal skills and play skills
  • Receptive language disorders
  • Expressive language disorders
  • Articulation and phonological disorders affecting speech clarity
  • Stuttering and stammering
  • Speech and language difficulties in special needs populations (Autism/ASD, ADHD, MR, Down’s syndrome, Cerebral palsy etc.)
  • Feeding and swallowing difficulties
  • Articulation and language difficulties in children with hearing impairments

BEHAVIOURAL THERAPY

Like adaptive behaviours, maladaptive behaviours are learned behaviours and therefore can be unlearned. The goal of behavioural therapy is not only to modify the undesirable behaviour with appropriate behaviour, but also to develop appropriate interactive and social skills in a supportive environment. We provide supportive intervention plans, based on the unique combination of strengths, and needs of each individual.

Rising Sun also provides:

  • Behavioural supportive intervention plans
  • Individual behavioural therapy
  • Group therapy and counseling
  • Social skills training
  • Behavioural management for all special needs populations (Autism, ADHD, Down’s syndrome, learning disability, MR etc.)

PHYSIOTHERAPY

Physiotherapy sessions perform diagnostic and examination to evaluate muscle, nerves, joints and functional ability. It uses specialist aids and equipment to develop the children’s independence and confidence.

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY

Occupational therapy is a healthcare profession concerned with a person’s ability to perform daily occupations, including self-care, productive and leisure activities. A child’s occupational performance may be impaired by physical, developmental, sensory, attention and learning challenges. Direct intervention to improve, restore, maintain or prevent deterioration in the skills required for functioning in his environment is necessary. An occupational therapist helps people learn how to perform daily living tasks.

We offer the evaluation and remediation of pediatric cases with:

  • Developmental delays
  • Neurological and congenital conditions
  • Oral motor deficits
  • Sensory integration
  • Learning disability
  • Activities of daily living (ADL) skills training

SPECIAL EDUCATION

We provide IEP (Individualised Educational Plans) for any child to achieve and maximize their basic learning potentials. To enrich this experience we incorporate all multidimensional modalities i.e visual, auditory and tactile etc.

Based on the multidisciplinary evaluation, our children are categorized into different groups namely:

  • Early Intervention Group (EIG) – In this group we emphasize pre-academic social communication and adaptive skills
  • Supportive Group I to IV
  • Special care unit

Each group has a specific curriculum with emphasis on communication, development of conceptual and academic skills, play and social skills based on the social and cultural context we provide functional and stimulating activities that facilitates greater participation of the children.

CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Fitness and sports:

Fitness sessions motivates the child and promotes physical development whilst having fun. Sessions consist of individual and group activities/sports and help to develop the following in children:

  • Spatial awareness
  • Hand-eye coordination
  • Social awareness and interaction
  • Coordination and rhythm
  • Muscular strength
  • Core strength, flexibility, balance, mobility and cardiovascular enhancement


Art and craft

Art and craft provide both a verbal and non-verbal means of expression. It is an excellent way to develop fine motor skills and communication. Utilizing colours, linear movements and textures, children explore sensory inputs and learn to cope with new stimuli. Art is a fun way to build confidence, where every child can be successful at creating beautiful pieces of art.

Music

Music is a creative way to help children focus, improve their attention spans and regulate their senses. It is especially beneficial to children with autism and ADHD. Some children with difficulty expressing their emotions and needs using words, are able to form words and sing whole or part of songs, learning them by heart.
